The New York Jets are a professional American football team based in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Jets compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's American Football Conference (AFC) East division.
They began play in 1960 as the New York Titans, a charter member of the American Football League and became an NFL franchise after the completion of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
