The 2000 MLB season was the first season of MLB without fully distinct leagues. The separate American and National League offices were dissolved; with this, Major League Baseball became a single unified organization. As a result, the separate umpiring crews for each league were also dissolved; all umpiring crews now worked throughout the league.
