Here’s a rare treat from the short-lived World Football League — the Spring 1975 issue of “Sun Beams,” the team newsletter of the Southern California Sun. The Sun were entering their 2nd year of WFL play and were set to add USC star Anthony Davis to their backfield. The headline, however, was that New Orleans Jazz owner Sam Battistone had taken over the team.

Inside “Sun Beams” we get a glimpse of the team’s new owner, along with head coach Tom Fears and Sun president Larry Hatfield. There is also the 2nd part of a piece on QB Daryle Lamonica.
Page three offers a few more pics, this time of DT Dave Roller and WR Dave Williams. The branding is strong here, as we get a column called Sun Spots.
And finally, there is the obligatory team schedule and season ticket reservation form. Sadly the WFL folded in October 1975, so the Sun set for good just 13 weeks into the year.
