The matchups for this year’s American League Division Series are set. We’ve got the Tampa Bay Rays against the Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros versus the Chicago White Sox.
The playoff history between the Rays and Red Sox is not a long one. The two franchises have met just twice before — the 2008 ALCS and the 2013 ALDS. Tampa took the first series en route to their first World Series appearance, but Boston got revenge five years later.
The history between the Astros and White Sox is even shorter, which makes sense given the fact that they weren’t in the same league until the Astros moved to the AL in 2013. But before that the two teams clashed in the 2005 World Series.
That series ended with Chicago capturing its first title in 88 seasons.
