Today marks the 40th birthday of my favorite current Canadian baseball team — the Toronto Blue Jays. The American League expansion franchise’s name was unveiled on August 12, 1976. “Blue Jays” was found on 154 of the more than 30,000 individual entries. Among the other suggestions were Turkey Ticklers, Black Flies, Exhibitionists and Fiddle-Faddles.
