We have a few teams celebrating anniversaries this year. The Anaheim Ducks and Florida Panthers are both marking 25 years since the establishment of their franchises in 1993:
The San Jose Sharks are marking 25 years in their current home, currently named the SAP Center. It opened as San Jose Arena in September 1993.
The Washington Capitals are naturally commemorating their Stanley Cup championship with a cover featuring Alexander Ovechkin.
As far as interesting designs, most of this year’s batch aren’t. They tend to fall into one of two designs – a logo-centric look or a photo of 2-3 of the team’s most prominent players. Two are worth highlighting, however. The Blackhawks turned in a design that reminds me of some of their ’70s ones, even down to the typeface.
