Here’s a wonderful piece of recent NHL history. It dates from 1989, when the official campaign to bring the historic Ottawa Senators franchise back to life. The original Senators left town in 1934 and fizzled out after just one season in St. Louis.
Here are scans from a promotional brochure released to gin up support for the new Senators, and it features the original expansion logo (which was replaced when the team finally took the ice in 1992. It includes some historical information on hockey in Ottawa, as well as — of course — space to sign up and pledge money to the effort. The pledge entitled people to later purchase season tickets.
