The 1970 National League Championship Series featured two teams that would figure prominently in postseason baseball for the rest of the decade — the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates. The two squads faced each other four times in the ’70s, with this being their first matchup since the establishment of the modern playoff system in 1969. Further showdowns occurred in 1972, 1975, and 1979.

Here is a ticket stub from the series-deciding third game at Riverfront Stadium, which the Reds won 3-2. They moved on to the World Series and lost to the Baltimore Orioles in five games.
