Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of 1970s NFL history will know the year these slides were taken immediately — 1975. That is the one and only year the New York Giants wore their infamous disco uniforms, identifiable by the stylized “NY” on the helmet.
To be more specific, these images were taken from New York’s October 12, 1975 home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Giants spent the 1975 season at Shea Stadium — home of the Jets — while they awaited the opening of Giants Stadium at the Meadowlands in New Jersey the next year. They lost this game to Dallas, 13-7, and finished with a 5-9 record. Dallas, meanwhile, turned in a 10-4 record and ended up losing in Super Bowl X to the Steelers.
