From an April 1979 issue of TV Guide, presumably from the Hartford area, comes this ad for WHA late-season action between the New England Whalers and Cincinnati Stingers. The Whalers won this game, 4-0, in what was the final season for the WHA.
The Whalers beat the Stingers in the first round of the playoffs in 1979 before losing in the semifinal round to the Edmonton Oilers. And of course we all know that the Whalers and Oilers made the move to the NHL along with the Winnipeg Jets and Quebec Nordiques.
