No, there was not an Indianapolis entry in the CFL. Well not that CFL anyway. I’m referring to the long-defunct Continental Football League, which played from 1965-69. That CFL was primarily formed by minor-league teams that had played in the United and Atlantic Coast football leagues, and it bounced between full independent status and also had some aspirations to be a feeder league of the NFL. Neither worked out, but we at least we got some cool programs out of the deal.
This program is from a September 21, 1968 game between the Indianapolis Caps (Capitals) and Chicago Owls.
The Caps and Owls were new entrants into the league in 1968, and both lasted until the league folded after its 1969 season.
