Who doesn’t love USFL ephemera? I know I do, so this 1983 Los Angeles Express USFL ticket brochure scratches me right where I itch. It’s so full of hope and optimism, it almost makes me sad again that the league failed.
The front of the brochure has a really cool team graphic that is one of the first I’ve seen that really reinforces the train motif.
Head coach Hugh Campbell, touted here as the winningest coach in CFL history, left the Express after the 1983 season to become head coach of the Houston Oilers.
The cheapest Express season ticket package (9 games) sold for $67.50 in 1983. By comparison, a four-game package for UCLA football cost $50 that year. The cheapest package for the Raiders, who were newly arrived in L.A. that year, were $100 (10 games including the preseason).
